Default Buy It? 2001 Ram 2500 V10

2001 Dodge Ram 2500 V10, 100k miles. A little over $6k. Please Ive had lots of lifted Chevys, currently am a Jeep guy, but wanting a full size pick up. Need it for hunting, wheeling, towing or hauling quads around or a side by side. Will be leaving it with my aging parents as they need a pick up...is the gas mileage as bad as they say? Please Im open to all suggestions, opinions, criticisms, praise for this thing....

Worthy of being a third vehicle for hunting trips, trips to the range, hauling quads, and a little four wheeling? Reliabilty good? Is gas mileage way too bad, or over exagerated?

THANKS!!

i don't know anything about the V10, but would imagine it would have the power that the v8's are missing. i've heard its a horrible gas pig, something like 10mpg or less.

having covered that, the 2500 has the dana 60 front and rear, and is a fine truck. watch out for the auto trans. test drive the **** out of it and see if it has any tranny problems at all. if so, prepare for an expensive repair. after that accept the normal cracked dash, front end wear.

it sounds like a nice truck. assuming its 4wd and no trans problem, its probably worth about 6k.

i have a 2001 ram 2500 v10 4x4 the v10 motor is strong as hell. mine has over 107000 and it is still runnin good. i had to rebuild the tranny in it though that was about 3 grand, the torque converter blew in half i get about 8-9 mpg in the city and 10-12 on highway as long as u keep your foot out of it ur good!!! they have a dana 70 in the rear and dana 60 front if its an automatic or a dana 80 in the rear and a dana 60 up front if its a manual!!!!

let me know if this was any help!!!

98 2500 V-10
Pulls like a mule and can really scoot down the road. Mine is 2wd but it gets 14MPG. I only drive it because my 80 Cherokee gets 11.
Same issues as the rest , cracked dash and infamous ABS/Brake Light issue. 169k and all I have had to replace was the water pump besides the usual belts and battery

thats what i thought at first too but i did some research on it and found out that the manual v10/diesel trucks have the dana 80 because of the manual transmission because it is more of a towing tranny the automatics!!!
