Lifting my 99
I've been looking around for a few months trying to figure out what the best lift for my truck is.
Im not looking for a mud truck or a rock crawler. Im looking for a lift that will be good for everyday driving.
I was thinking of 5 to 7 inches but what size tires will something like that fit. I want to max out the tires. I have seen guys with trucks with like 44 inch or bigger tires. not saying i want that big but what size lift would they use. because all i see are lifts that only take up to 38s
Does anyone have any pics of there second Gens with a nice sized lift????
Anthing would be nice
THANKS

If you want to max out the tire size for the lift then you better stick to about 5-7" of lift and 35-38" tires. Anymore tire than that and your axles will start singing the blues to you (assuming you have a half ton).
To fit 44's on a 2nd gen dodge (without cutting fenders) you will need at least 14" or more of lift for street driving, and if you are wheeling and flexing allot you will need even more. And you would HAVE to swap one ton axles under it.

I am in the same boat as you, trying to decide which lift. If it is an everyday driver, I would stick with a 3 inch lift with 33" tires. But then again I would like a 5" lift with 35" tires. So I am stuck between the two. I like the look of the higher lift, but with that comes higher costs. Plus with the 35's, regearing would be a must. In saying that, I am probably going with a 3" lift since it will be a pavement pounder 70% of the time. Anyone else have an opinion or suggestion?
I've had both (3" with 33's and now 6" with 35's). For a daily driver, i'd say the 3" is a little more practical, and a whole lot cheaper. Sometimes I wish I had that setup back again. But 35's just look so much better on our trucks. Way more proportional.
First thing I would do is check on what your limit is in your state. I know in my state you will fail the annual state inspection if there is more than 4" lift over stock.
sucks for me because I wana monster truck for my daily rig
