Question Plenum fix and seafoam

I am planning on tearing into my intake soon and finally fix my plenum leak (cheap way with just a new gasket for now). While I am at it I plan to pull the TB off and clean then hell out of all of that.

I also plan on doing a seafoam treatment to my engine in the near future to really get rid of all of the carbon deposits, etc.

Should I just measure out an equal amount of seafoam and dump it into my cylinders while my intake is torn apart, or should I stick with the instructions and suck it into the intake with the brake booster vacuum line or something similar?

putting it in your cyclinders could hydro lock the engine. putting in the intake turns it into a mist. follow the instructions and youll be better off imo.

+1, plus you won't get the carbon off the valves if you don't run it thru the intake.

Good points guys, thanks for the input. I just didn't know if I would have been saving a step but I see the problems it could cause.

Thats a great idea! My cousin said that when he did it to his truck that he drove a mile or two with no smoke and then all of a sudden, he couldn't see the road behind him and he said that the cars behind him actually had to pull over.

I've been told that what you do is start up your truck and let it run for a minute. Disconnect your brake booster vacuum line and stick it ito the bottle of seafoam and then shut your truck off. Let it sit for about 10-15 min to soak in and then start your truck up and you'll be blowing black smoke in no time.

I know my plenum is leaking because I am burning through some oil and I have oil residue down in my intake.

Almost ^^^^^

Take the brake hose and tip the bottle of seafoam towards it and it will suck the liquid in by itself. You'll have to monitor the amount as too much will kill the engine. This is tedious and slow work because it only takes a little at a time. After you're satisfied with the amount (I do anywhere from half to whole can) then shut it off and wait. The longer the better. I wait a half hour at least. Then start and you'll see lots of WHITE smoke not BLACK smoke. After most of the smoke is gone, run it hard up some hills and you're done.

This shows the different between someone who has read how to do it and someone who has done it. Thank you for the correction.
