My old 5.2 aint the fastest, but it has better throttle response than a 04 F150 with the 5.4
and it pulls almost anything i hook to it

yea, these dodges really were king of the hill in their day. (1994-1998) Most powerful 1/2 ton you could get and pretty damn fast compared to their competitors. If your looking at torque numbers dodge has the most powerful 1/2 tons from 1994-2006 (excluding the ss) but a lot has changed since around 2000. look at the 96 chevy 1500 454 ss that they could only squeeze 230 horse out of. now the new dodge 4.7 makes 330 horse. its amazing how much power engines have been making as of late.

captcameltoe, i am having trouble believing a 1500 5.3 chevy silverado with a engine comp., exhaust, cam, and rockers can run a 13.0 or < 1/4 mile!

Ha, at least we're not talking furds. I was at Autozone the other day picking up some fog lights and there was a brand new f150 (old style) sitting there all shiny without license plates yet. The dude came out to it and my door was in his way so I apologized and joked "don't wanna get a ding in that new rig" as I jumped in mine. He laughed and climbed in his. He cranked once. Nothing. Cranked twice. Nothing. Third time the dang thing started up. I just smiled, fired my baby up and thought, 'I love my Ram'.

i see them all the time at work. One fairly new ford f-150 pulled in for an oil change and it took 20 minutes to get it started again to pull the damn thing out. Most of the time the hoods don't shut on the fords either. then you gotta deal with their **** poor transmissions and underpowered engines. i'm with ramman, i like my ram more every day

padodgeram, That truck has a 100 shot nitrous and 4:10 gears and it was a 13.87 sec run, which is not even close to the claimed 13.o sec! Those are not the specifications listed by captcamelteoe, he said it would run the quarter in 13.0 with ONLY engine comp., exhaust, cam, and rockers.

LOL

Like I said before, check out this forum and read through the posts and it doesn't take long to figure out that those 4.8/5.3 trucks can run excellant numbers with only a few mods. Don't take my word for it, look for yourself http://performancetrucks.net/forums/...play.php?f=139

Well, heres my 2 cents, I have no idea what my trucks 0-60 time is, but I guarantee my 97 1500, ext cab, sb, 5.2 and 5 spd will smoke my moms suburban any day. granted the suburban weighs a lil more, but i have 700 pounds in the bed consistently right now, and i would bet i could still outrun it starting in second gear. Ya, these trucks may not be able to outrun a new civic, but, for a frickin full size truck, with 32 inch tires I am plenty happy. And I would be willing to see which is faster, a dodge 5.2 or a gm 5.3, just gotta finda someone willin to go

This is why your opinion and your "test" really arent worth much.

Look at the notes at the bottom of that page. 4000DA. Spun through 1st and 2nd. And it was 85 degrees in Houston.

Also if you do the correction for elevation the 1/4 time corrected comes out to 13.19@103.

If you knew anything about drag racing or fast cars in general you would know what these numbers mean and see that he ran a pretty good time. WITH NO CAM.

Where are the dodge 5.2 time slips? Does anyone here take their truck to the track and get some ACTUAL numbers, not just internet bench racing. "oh i bet i could out run anything!" MY MOMS TRUCK FEELS SLOWER, STUPID CHEVY!
