im new to the dodge trucks and i own a 97 dodge ram with the 5.2 liter and was curious to what the horsepower and torque was for this year.Also wanted to know if it has a steel roller cam or flat tappet
is there any simple mods i can do to pep it up or help gas mileage a bit thanx

 

220hp 300tq... roller cam.... 50mm tb,roller rockers,exhaust, superchips.

 

I dont mean to doubt you but are you sure on those numbers? I thought the 5.2 was around 172 hp.... where did you get your numbers?

 

220hp is at the flywheel. You are thinking of rear wheel hp. He's right.

 

thats just me... i dont count the flywheel power... to me its pointless

 

No roller rockers..... ROLLER LIFTERS. It's a strong little motor for as much *** as it has to haul around, our trucks are HAWGS!

 

yea but the 5.2s are near unkillable. i porve that one. these motors dont like rev limiter. and when you get almost stuck and it bounces rev limiter a few times. and then keep going. its a good motor to me.
