When you checked your TPS did you use a digital voltmeter? If so, try again with an analog meter so you can catch the needle twitching if you hit a dirty spot.
That's what I was thinking too. Better yet than even a fast response analog meter is use an oscilloscope if you can. That's the real tool to catch short duration voltage glitching.
