im talking to the guy who has it and he said that it was a 1998 camper trailer that had got burned and turned into a flat bed and i had screwed up it has 2 5000lbs axels under it
I don't think you would have any problems pulling that trailer. Like some of the others have said, just don't exceed the GVWR of your truck. That said, I use to have a 1/2 ton chevy that I pulled a 27' 5th wheel camper with that far exceeded the GVWR of that truck. I always made sure I stayed out of OD, and I also had added a good tranny cooler. I put on a lot of miles towing that camper and never had a problem. A lot depends also on the gears in your truck. You've probably got 3:55 in yours and, althought that isn't all that bad, you'd probably be better off with something like 4:10. Since your probably going to be getting another truck better suited to towing anyway, I wouldn't do anything except stay out of overdrive and you said you already had the cooler, so you're probably good to go. One more thing, if the trailer doesn't already have trailer brakes, I'd put some on it.
ya it has electric breaks so it shuld be alright and im not sure of the weight of the trailer cause it is a old camper trailer that has been built to a flat bed so he isnt sure on the weight
hey you know what its yr truck do what you want i wouldnt try it but let us know how it works out. i think yr way over loading a 1500 but im new to to trucks and working on them so i could be wrong. it will deffenty give that 1500 the work out of its life lol.
ya'lls worrying too much, i tow wagons on the farm, which you CAN'T go over about 25 or 30 with due to swaying problems caused by the wagons steering system, and have never had a problem engine trans or anything, ive also towed normal trailers at highway speeds and have never engine or trans problems
or overheated the little 318 under er hood
and mine is a 1500
allright cause i use mien most of the tiem for farm use and it pulls a hell of a lot for what it is..im guna get the traielr and jsut watch what i load and how i load it
thats the key, although ive overloaded it before, with the corn head (10,000 lbs) 12 row head , but we have a 8 row head coming in, so it'll be within the weight rating, i think
