Unhappy Front axel problem

I have a 1998 Ram 1500 4X4. Last night I was plowing and tore the U-joint out of the passenger side front axel. As a result the outer stub is now broken, and I have to replace it and the end of the axel is deformed a little where the U-joint cups go. Is this axel still usable or do I have to replace it as well?

Replace it! Because you"ll never get the cups to go back on without them being stressed, which will lead to constant replacement of the ujoint.

it depends on what "deformed a little" means.

i'd say the u-joint yoke thing is heat treated/hardened, so if you beat, or heat, it back into shape, it will either break, or severely weaken it.

so if you can get the u-joints back in without beating/heating, i'd say its ok. if not, i'd replace it.
