Yeah, I have been thinking about this. Now I have looked into a couple different things, AutoXray, Auto Tap, the Auto Enginuity software looked pretty good. Of course there's the Genysis, Snap on, and a bunch of others that are really nice but just dont think I got the money to spend on these. But the other thing is that I work on a lot of other vehicles so a scanner that has a wide spectrum of capabilities.

I got an AutoXray 2500. It came with adapters for GM, Ford,and Chrysler OBD-1 as well OBD-2 . About $200.00.

Thats one reason I went with the Flashpaq 3815 (and maybe the SCT later on), they can read trouble codes on OBD II cars/trucks.

The 3815(or SCT) will read codes for all OBD-II vehicles? Not just our Dodges?

OBD is universal.

OBDII has a set of universal codes that apply to all vehicles. Then there is another set that is more vehicle/manufacturer specific.
Some diagnostic tools/scanners allow you to buy an entry level device with all the universal codes then later it can be upgraded.
