might work?
There is quite a bit you should know to tackle a project like rebuilding an automatic tranny.
Theres a reason a rebuild costs $2500... theres lots of parts that go into one and allot of time to do it right.

how can i do it for like 350 myself? i mean i have a clean work area, and just about every tool i need, and presses but i have never done that before and it seems like something i would messup,
im not to worried about a total rebuild at that, i just would like to replace the low-reverse band in the trans, if hat ould work, or a total rebuild would be a must.

I didn't think that the rebuild was too horrible, you just need to be meticulous and very thorough.
There is a trans shop near me that I got my parts from and here is kind of a rundown on cost:
Rebuild kit: $105
Transgo TFOD-JR kit: $21 (Optional but might as well put it in) The HD-2 kit was about $110.
Transmission Manual: $25
Torque Converter: $140
Trans Fluid: (I used Valvoline ATF+4 Synthetic) $78
That brings the total to around $350.
I however had bigger problems and had to replace some hard parts
Oil Pump: $220
Rear drum and the piece it rides on:$80
My bands were in good shape but I hear at a trans shop they only cost like $15 bucks or so.
As far as changing a band and drum vs. a total rebuild. I say that while your in there you might as well do it all to make sure you don't have to come back!
