Default pcv valve hookup

How important is that hookup??? my intake just came in and it didnt come with the hookup...I just ordered the part from summit racing so it should be in real quick, but can I run it for the time being without that piece?

You mean leave the hose hanging loose? You can do that for a while, but don't let any blowby drip onto the exhaust manifolds or you might have a fire.

The manifold vac does help pull the gases past the PCV valve and clear the tube should any oil get past, so I'd make sure you blow it out good after you get the correct part.

The PCV valve is basically an emissions deal to keep the oil from dripping down on the road like it used to do thru the road draft tubes.

If memory serves me right that was the first stage of emission control.

It was definitely one of the first if not the first emissions restrictions. It also helped remove the big oil runs down the center of the road. The part you didn't want to cross over in the rain on a motorcycle...

+1 to zman17

vmann, why are you hooking the PCV vent tube to the air cleaner? You don't want to blow all that crap thru the TB, IAC port and the inside of your air filter.

Take a couple pic of the engine bay and show us what you've got going on. Did you buy a new intake? The old intake has the bung ports already there for the PCV, brake booster and vac accessory tree.

The Mr. Gasket setup works that way. Plus the stock PCV tube went to the intake... so it never crossed my mind as to why it would be bad. After running it on and off I never noticed any residue on the TB either that I can tell. Just my experience

It wasn't much fun in a four-wheeler either.
