Shock & Lift question...
Hi all....
I am kind of new to having and maintaining a truck. (other then a M998 Hummer) I drive a Dodge SRT4 and thought I'd give the Dodge trucks a try, since I am happy with my car....so far it's been....well an experience. (don't get me started on the dash shattering into 100 tiny little peices from being improperly cured/formed!)
My truck was bought used and came with a suspension lift, as it sits noticably higher then stock, and has oversize tires on it. Right now my left rear sits lower then the rest of the truck. I am guessing I have a bad shock.
So here are my questions...
1. Am I correcting in thinking it is a problem with the shock? If not, leaf spring? Front coil spring or strut?
2. How do I determine the amount of lift on the truck? Is there somewhere I can measure?
Hoping someone can give me some advice. I am in VA for mil school at the moment and I want to fix this on base at the craft shop. Since I have the resources before I return to my duty station back in PA.
Thanks,
Coben

I doubt a shock would cause a noticeable sag, check the leaf springs.
Difficult to tell without a picture but most likely you have a 3 inch lift. You may have coil spacers up front and blocks in the rear, check there.

Thanks Vader, I'll look tomorrow....if I can I will take a picture of the truck and post it up....
I am hoping it's not the leaf springs though. That would mean the truck was previously overloaded wouldn't it? I'll have to look into it to see if they can be rebent or if I need new springs...which will more then I can afford at the moment.

Shocks do not effect ride height at all, they just dampen the suspension. So you can cross that one out.
Guessing the height of your lift is not possible without at least some pics of the front and rear suspension. The stock dodge rear suspension has blocks under the rear springs.
