I plan on replacing my front shocks with these tonight or tomorrow (already have them). I'm not an off-roader and really only leave the road during hunting season.

Anyway, the shocks are tethered on the ends with a plastic tie to keep them from extending. Can I expect them to snap out to the maximum extension when I cut that or are they like regular shocks and not under pressure? I've looked at the mostly useless information on Monroe's website and it doesn't say if they are gas charged or not (so I'm assuming not).

Just curious so I know if I'm going to be screwed if I cut it on they're not in perfect position and so I don't lose a finger.

I have those same shocks on my ride, and when you cut the zip tie that holds them together, they will extend on you. Now, they are not impossible to re-compress if you get them out of alignment.

My advice is to bolt at least 1 side of it in, then cut the tie when you have it lined up with the 2nd mount, then as it slides past the hole, jam the bolt in it. If you miss the mark, no fear, a floor jack or a good strong push will compress it again enough so you can line it up and fasten it on both sides of the shock.

Thanks for the info. Do you by any chance remember what size the lower nut/bots are?

That signature is huge. Makes you have to scroll side to side in any thread you post in. Can you please make it smaller?
