Progress
Well after celebrating my 21st like champ, I started back on the motor....here it is
Quick question though concerning the valve covers (mp perf.)
Does it use all the old v cover bolts from the stock ones, b/c there isn't enough holes.
Also could someone link me to a oil cap and pcv breather that fits in these or how do I install a grommet I m alittle lost on that process.
Hopefully itll warm up and I ll be able to get back out there and pull that damn tranny so I can get this thing running.

Sorry to say, but if you have 10 hole covers they are for LA heads not Magnum heads and will probably leak. May get away with them if you use double gaskets under them. I would return them if you can for the 12 hole covers.
Grommets a bit of a PITA. I put it in very soapy water then push one side of the grommet so the lips under the cover, then push the other side towards the first side compressing it while pushing down. Then just a matter of working the bottom under the cover all the way around carefully.
PS, belated happy Bday!

To reiterate what RM said, the 10 holes do have a tendancy to leak. I had a set on my truck and at first I thought I had a rear main seal issue but it turned out to be the valve covers. I tried doubling up on the thin factory style gaskets as well as a cork gasket, the cork worked a bit better, but I still had to put a qt of oil in every 500 miles or so and had a oil slick in my driveway as a result.
er scratch that, I had 5 bolt covers, but the idea remains.

agreed.. you should get the 12 bolt covers... and I don' think it's a good idea to double up on gaskets either... the gromet is a PITA.. i just put in an aftermarket breather cap and it was a bittch! I use a screw driver to help

They need to come forward (at least the one on the pass side). Make sure you have the RH and LH where they are supposed to be.
