No Start Help!
I have a 1996 Dodge Ram 2500 2wd v-10. A couple weeks ago i was driving it and it was running perfect, drove it home ran perfect, next morning come out, battery is dead, figured i left the lights or a door open so i charged the battery. Now the truck just turns over, turns over...that all it does. Doesn't sputter, doesn't act like its trying to start. Took out a spark plug, they look clean, also tested to see if there was spark and sure enough im getting spark. Im stumped on this one. I also noticed that it had been leaking coolant. So i put some more into the radiator, which was a little low but not bad, and added some to the overflow tank. Still wont start, just turns over and turns over. What can this be?
you could have corroded terminals either at the battery or at the starter itself, the starter might not be recieving the amperage that it needs to crank over, clean the terminals at the battery first, see if that helps any
Do you hear the fuel pump run when you turn the key to the on position? Check all the fuses by the door jamb and in the PDC. Replace the ASD relay in the PDC (black box under hood). If that doesn't help, get a fuel pressure tester and check it.
ok, ill check those, i havn't really listened for the fuel pump, does it sound like the GM fuel pumps..kind of a whine. Also it cranks, buts that all..it wont start. the batt terminals are good and so are the starter term. Im thinking its a fuel delivery problem.
It's basically just a pressure gauge with a line on it that connects to the schrader(sp.?) valve on the fuel rail. Just take the cap off of the valve and screw the gauge on. Then turn on the ignition and check the gauge to make sure the fuel pressure came up to where it's supposed to be. After that turn off the ignition and make sure it holds pressure (to verify that the fuel pressure regulator on the pump is still good). When I was having hard starting problems it turned out to be the regulator-- the pressure would bleed off really fast after turning the ignition off. I replaced the whole pump assembly.

Most models have a test port on the driver side of the fuel rail . It should have a black plastic cap, bigger , but similar to a tire valve cap. Make sure you have the test port before you go buy/rent the tester. Than follow the directions the tool comes with.
well i just got off the phone with my father who is the one that started to troubleshoot the truck. He just told me that there is no spark. I must of mistaken and thought he said there was spark. I told me there wasn't. the way we tested this was took a plug out and turned the truck over and watched... Sorry to throw a wrench into the mix ha..i thought we were onto something...
