160 t-stat
It's very possible changing your wires will help. If you still have the 7mm wires, definitely change them. I would also make sure they are routed properly to eliminate cross fire issues. Double check the plenum for leaks, and make sure the injectors are working properly. Also make sure there aren't any hidden vacuum leaks anywhere.
I would highly suggest finding out what is causing the pinging issue as opposed to running the cooler t-stat. Somebody correct me if I'm wrong, but if the engine runs too cool, doesn't it allow excess carbon to build up in the engine? Also, I believe the fuel trims that the PCM adjusts may be undesireable at the cooler temps. The SCT tuner can reprogram the base info in the PCM, but the PCM will still go through the fuel trim adjustments no matter what. I asked Hemifever about overriding this, but he said there's no way around it. I wish there was because every time I change the program, or disconnect the battery, it takes more than a tankful of driving before it settles down and remains constant in performance. Until it has reached that point, it seems like a different truck every time I drive it; sometimes it runs like a bat outta hell, and others it doesn't seem to know what it wants to do. Until I've driven it enough for the PCM to settle down, it is just plain annoying. Once it has settled down, it's awesome!

you have a problem if you are pinging with 93 octane and the economy tune. Find the problem instead of trying to bury it.
I was having a hell of a problem finding a ping in my truck that I had to really dig into the engine to get after. I'd suggest pulling your injectors and cleaning them, cleaning or replacing the IAT sensor, and possibly even replacing your coolant temp sensor.
And I know everyone says this, but have you checked your plenum gasket? even if you have fixed it recently, visually check the plenum for oil.

WTF kind of crazy talk is that?
Hey, what brand of wires should i get. I was stuck today between MSD or taylor wires. Do you think that 8.5 mm would be too big also? And how are our wires running, i havent checked yet are they 90 degree?
I have 8mm wires, run 160 degree t-stat and cooler plugs and have not had a light come on yet for it. I live in the south though so the temps might make a difference I don't know. I only run plus in my truck and have never had a pinging problem except when I first bought it and was running regular, but none since the upgrade in octane.
