Default NEW PROJECT?????

Well i posted a while back that i have a 2000 4x4 off-road extended cab truck and the bottom of the fenders are starting to rust already so i was severly pissed so i thought about it and i was wondering what it would look like if i sanded all the rust out of it and roughed up the bottom of the whole truck where the first indentation starts at the bottom of the truck and put on a liner like herculiner or something like herculiner and on the back side to keep the rust away from it........but i have been thinking that the liner would look kinda cool put on like that......my truck is a patriot blue color so it would not clash or nothing, but what do you guys think it would look like or have you seen anything like this before????????[sm=badidea.gif][sm=feedback.gif]

I have a 95 Dodge Ram and I oil it every fall so the undercarriage is really clean. I had the same type of problem your having. Mine was rusting a liitle around the rear wheel wells on both sides. I just sandblasted it to bear metal to get rid of the rust, then sealed it, primed it, and my friend blended it in for me.

I had a '90 Chevy stepside that I sprayed the bottom with bedliner material like you're talking. It actually stood out a LOT more than I thought it would. It was a dark color truck, so I thought it wouldn't be that noticeable, but it was very distinct and I really didn't like it.

I saw this done on a white Dodge like mine.
He had bushwacker fender flares and he went along the line your talking about and over the flare too.
I have to say, I thought it looked great.
But as they say, "opinions are like a--holes everybodys got one".
I dont appear to have a rust problem yet but my tires are throwing rocks and chipping my paint fast.
I was thinking about it for my truck.

I'd do it again, I'd just spray the original vehicle color over top of the bedliner material. Most of that stuff is paintable. That gets you the best of both worlds.
