I have been debating this extra same thing...I think the autolites and other "top end" plugs might be better if you have tons of mods like...like Indy.

But I have just the intake mod, tb (soon), exhaust, and hopefully rockers. Other than that it is stock. I got Champions in them now (previous owners) no pinging no problems so why change brand?

I am gonna get the platinum ones just so they last longer but I'll stick with Champions I think. At $4 a pop what is a mere $24?

question to me is...should I change my stock wiring? I think it is 7mm right now...7.5 or 8 cost a LOT more...but is it worth it?

hmmmm

heres my take. i had champions, stock coil.and stock wires. i went and got msd 8.5 wires, accel coil, and 3923 autolites. couldnt tell any difference. all my stock stuff was in good shape. just wanted to see what kind of difference it would make. and by the butt dyno i felt nothing. i think that alot of times guys say how great the 3923's are because there old plug were shot anyway,so of course there is gonna be a improvement.

If you dont have ping then run the stock heat range or you could loose power slightly. May not get as a complete a burn with colder plugs.

Any plugs Ive installed in my Indy Ive always index them so the gap openings face the valves. It will make a difference in performance/idle/start ups and without it can give a false improvement from a plug change that isnt actually there. Indexing will make the burn more efficient and can give up to 2% more power than if not indexing. Factory plugs were all over the place. I marked them before removing and 5 were pointing below 3 oclock & 9 oclock, 3 almost straight down. The Bosch gave noticeable improvement but figure all due to being indexed properly.

The only plugs I really could tell a difference was the NGK. Had slower startup and slightly rougher idle after installing/indexing. When I tried the NGK plugs the 8.0 wires, cap, rotor & plats had probably 7-8k miles on them max. I put a set of champions back in. (free from champion @ track mopar meet).

I know other guys that had Vortechs or Paxtons on their Rams that tried iridium plugs in the past & told me not to waste my money. No difference at all on the 1/4m or dyno. For the cost, I have never bothered.

you at least want 8.5, when i put 7mm from 8.5 . felt a lost in power , so i put msd 8.5 supercondutors on and they work great , i think you can get other brand in 8.5. thats cheaper i would stay away from anything lower than 8.

This is my first Dodge, so I'm kind of learning about what brands and parts are best for Dodge engines. But I was watching the show Trucks about a year ago and they were doing a thing on spark plugs and they said that in their opinion E3 Spark Plugs were the best. But I'm not too sure. Maybe I'll take some advice from you guys and try those NGK's.
