Default Headers

So I am looking at doing headers as my next upgrade to my truck, and I was looking at summit racing, and saw this set and was wondering what some of you guys thought of these, whether or not they are worth it, in all honesty, the biggest deal to me is getting rid of those eyesores I have in the engine right now... and how hard is it to do headers??? something I could do on my own? I know I can do all the bolt on but I havent really checked to see if any kind of welding is involved... here are the ones i was looking at. Thanks for any help!!

Shorty headers are bolt-ons. Very easy to do so long as the old exhaust manifold bolts cooperate. Start hitting the old bolts with P.B. Blaster the week before you need to remove them.

those are nice headers but be weary that they are painted...the paint with that much heat wont last too long. try looking on ebay- i remember seeing some in the same price range but would last longer.take a look at these: http://cgi.ebay.com/ebaymotors/94-01...Q5fAccessories

you'll notice a little at highway speed, mostly when you step on it to pass.

The paint will burn off within one week. Then they'll be bare and start to rust. You could burn it off and then remove them and paint them with ceramic header paint. That would be better than nothing, but they'll still break down eventually from the inside out due to condensation and exhaust gas corrosion.

Harland Sharp rockers are soposed to be a better mod for the money than headers. Just like to throw that out there..

If you read my first post though, I want to get rid of the rusted eyesores that are in the engine compartment already...

you might be able to pull the current exhaust manis, wire wheel them down (to get the rust off) and paint them with high temp ceramic paint.

Use a wire wheel on a grinder. Much quicker.
