Default Q's about TB's and 14x3 air cleaner

Hi all,
I want to start messing with some intake mods since I already have a high flow cat and a FM muffer. I want to go with the mopar performance air cleaner with the K&N 14x3 filter. I will be adding shortie headers some time in the near future too. My questions are....
1. Do I need to get the Fastman throttle body in order for the round filter to fit, or can I use my stock TB?
2. How hard would it be to bore out my stock TB to 52mm? I'm having a hard time paying 300 bucks for an all new TB when I could just mod my own, or a $20 one from the junk yard.

Thanks

it'll fit the stock TB... might have to bend the post a little to line it up right

I'd say if you know how to bore it out.. go for it

doing both will prolly give you less mpg... more air=more gas

well the stock tb is 50mm down to 48mm bore so it wouldn't all that hard to make it 50mm all the way throw.... but the 52mm all the way throw will be hard because you will need to replace the buterfly values.. good luck withe mod

What did you use to bore it out? I was thinking a 50mm Drill bit on a drill press. But I cant find one anywhere.

You'll need new butterfly valves on the 50mm too since they are located about halfway down the bore.

50mm=5cm=1.968502937in=1 31/32in (1.96875in) By my redneck math, you are looking for a 1 31/32in drill bit. I dont think they make one that size but you can try.

Now that's some common sense right there and I'm not being sarcastic.

If this was so easily done, Fastman and others would not be selling them. No matter what you do, you need new plates. Good luck with that.

I agree, I think that has disaster written all over it, I'm a cheap bastard and I wouldn't even do that I'd rather just slap a Fastman on it.
