Question front drive shaft spins but no 4wd?

Hi all, i conveniantly found out that there is something wrong with my 4wd system when i got stuck in a mud hole today. My truck is a 94 1500 5 spd 4wd. When i shift into 4wd the front drive shaft DOES spin but neither of the front tires spin. My 4wd light also doesn not come on. is this a problem with my hubs? are these hubs electric or vacuum?

Thanks alot,
Alex

you have a vacuum leak in the line that engages your axle... there is a "vacuum motor" that connects and disconnects the passenger side wheel from the diff.

just run a new line, and your good to go. it could be its getting jammed, but this is prolly what it is

hold on. maybe, maybe not.
it is vacuum operated. controlled by a vac switch on the t-case.
could be a vac problem, could be a diaphram/fork problem.
diagnose the problem first.

its unlikely that its anything serious. its usually a broken vac line, bad t-case switch, or stuck diaphram. check for proper vac operation first. at the cad, there should be vac on one of the hoses in 2wd and vac on the other in 4wd. if not, fix the vac. if vac is good, then remove the cad and inspect the fork and shaft and probably clean the rusty shaft. its not complicated.

no, you need more than hubs. you have a CAD, central axle disconnect, so the passenger side axle is 2 piece, with a break/coupler at the CAD. to convert to manual hubs you'll have to buy a pretty expensive kit that will include new axles and a whole bunch of $hit.

a better manual alternative is the posilok. its a bit of a pain to install, but its a good thing.
