Rebirth of T.B. Spacers???
With this (new) FI air gap out, one would think that those waste of 100$ spacers might fit this intake better than our stock keg style. In the FI, air is now being directed straight to the heads instead of slamming against the belly pan. So this vortex of air might prove to be useful now in our small blocks. Just an idea.......
You won't get one on with the new intake. At least not with a 14X3 air hat, the is NO room to spare as the new air gap sits about a 1/4 higher than the old intake. I can barely get my air hat on and off now.
The air still "slams" a 90* angle when it hits the bottom of the intake and shoots down the runners. I'm still skeptical that you could maintain a "twisting" or "spiraling" effect to the air down the runner, but it would be more probable on the new intake.
It's a possibility on a stock setup, though I don't think the spacer + stock air hat would rival the 14X3 element. I won't believe anybody that doesn't produce before and after dyno numbers.

The adapter plate is in no way restrictive, it's a complete oval under the TB and gets bigger from there. it basically shrinks the 4bbl to a 2bbl. you could run one of those mammoth 58mm TB's and the adapter plate would still not cause a restriction.
There is still a bit of hiss but it is greatly reduced and not noticeable after the engine heats up, which makes me think that what you're actually hearing is the IAC valve thru the filter material which gets muffled by other air hat types.
What is noticeable is the sound of the engine with the new intake when you step into it. It's just different, you'd have to hear it to understand exactly. Here's a vid I shot, but it doesn't really do it justice:

I have the old one, but it is the exact same thing, just welded instead of cast like the new one.
