Default what should i do

ok i have the 318, wanted to make it the 390 stroker. but now that i think about it. i wouldnt mind having the 408...

i want this truck to be able to be drivin down the road at least three or four times a week and hold up... not to mention, be able to hit the biggest mud holes and get em through...

what do you guys think i should be trying to get? a 360 with ok miles on it or shold i just keep my 318 and make it a 390?

what would need to be changed to make the 408 work nomally? i plan on running headers and m own exaughst but the trans i mean

just beware the more power you put out the more stuff you are going to break. trans, driveshafts, axles, differintials, transfer case you will always find a weak spot. you can do it how you want. but you can go though any mud with even a 6cylinder with the correct gears and tires. that being said i would prally go with a good 360 save the extra money for lift and tires and possibly go with some 4.56 gears

well i was thinking that, but what i was planing on doing... total plan here...

390 stroker.
4.10 gears
35X12.50 boggers
detroit truetrac front
detroit e-locker rear
shackle flip for rear lift(taking the stock blocks out, = about 3inch lift from what i here)
longer springs for front lift (to also give some flex and about 3 inchs for the front)
drop tracbar bracket, and drop pitment arm as needed
longer driveshafts for flex
longer shocks
and longer front tracbars

or do you think i should just keep the 360 idea and get some good heads?

and i kow about the v6's going through some stuff, but not when they weigh as much as we do...

as you know mopar motors are expensive to build i would say 360 if you want some heads go for it. as for the lift i found this BDS-Suspension.com 3in. add-a-leaf upgrade to 9500 series shocks and black boots $549.86 + shipping then on ebay top gun customz has 3in. coils 185 including shipping total of $734 + shipping from BDS for 3in. the coils are soft ride coils also. i dont know much about the detroit lockers i do however know about the auburn proseries L/S differintials no spider gears they use cones i had one in my mustang and i didnt break it and i put it through hell. my truck has 3.55 gears with 33's if I were gonna run 35's i would prally go 4.56 just my opinion.

i was thinkin of the 4.56 gears, i still may but i also have to keep in mind, for a few months this is going to be a daily driver... until i can afford to get the cummins i want as a daily driver.... but i know little about the auburn. i put my whole truck through hell. and then come back. i have heard though the auburn gut dont last. of coarse so do the detroits but i like also have to remember that i will be using it as daily driver. so the auburn i think is a full time locker isnt it? or is it selectable?

but to go back to my motor issue. i think a may do this whole 360 with some good heads, and intake with my exhaust, i am a good genius with exhaust...

do you know of any good places to get a reman 360 that would already have 2.02 heads on them?

no i don't know where to get the engine. the auburn is limited slip when and only when it needs to be when you turn it slips but when you mash on it it locks in. if you wanted to vut doughnuts you can but just easing around its unlocked

so its the same thing as the truetrac... but the auburn uses wearable parts. the truetrac is all helic gears. never wears down. and i was thinking of that for the rear along with the front
