Default Installing new speakers need help!!!

I have a 2000 Dodge Ram 1500 which I assume has the infinity sound system because I have 2 tweeters. Front needs 6 x 9, and back is 5 1/4. I took off my door for drivers side and went to put in my 6 x 9 and noticed the stupid little amp on the factory speaker, thinking I would only need the red and black wires I cut the rest of the wires from the amp. Well long story short, hooking up the black and red wire makes no sound, how do I eliminate the need for the amp on top of the speaker? I just need to know how to hook up new speakers. I searched the forum and most people say to just leave them hang in the door, it's a little too late for that since I cut the wires too close to the amp to hook them back up.

not to be rude, but do a search. there are hundreds of threads on this topic. Also, there is a wiring diagram at the top of the page.

i would try to solder the original wires back onto the amp. if you can get it hot with the iron, you can stick it back together.

I just zip tied that amp in the door the first time. Now I have wires I ran for the speakers so it bypasses all of that. You could run new wires from the head unit to the speakers.

Also for the rear are you sure they are 5 1/4"? I used 6.5"s and they fit perfectly. I do think they were slightly bigger than the stock speakers but still worked great.

I am brand new to the forum, but I did search like I stated and couldn't find any threads about anyone doing anything except letting the amps hang in the door. My question was, is there any other way besides doing that. I will definitely look into the wiring diagram though. Thanks

Ok I will try soldering them back together. But yea they are def. 5 1/4 because I took off the back door panel and they matched the size that I bought which was 5 1/4, I wish I would've known that 6 1/2 would have fit though.

Sorry I may sound stupid, but I don't see the wiring diagram at the top of the page. Where exactly is it?

For a wiring diagram check out installdr.com. I'm not sure what he is talking about saying it's one at the top of the page. Maybe in a search who knows.

As for the rear speakers that's cool. Yeah I used 6.5" speakers but did notice the stock one were smaller the 6.5"s did fit in my truck with no modifications though. This is in a quad cab truck. Is that what you have?

wow, that link you gave me is awesome, it explains wiring down to the key. Thanks a lot, and yea I have the quad cab, but I really wish I would have known I could have fit 6 1/2 in there cause I have 6 1/2 alpine type s's that I was going to put in the front so I bought 5 1/4 for the back already from circuit city since everything is on sale there, but there's no returns

I forgot to ask you, was it a big pain to run new speaker wires throughout the truck? Did you do it for the back doors too? Did you use fishing tape or what?
