You know plastic primer is white you could just put plastic primer on it and it would be white haha. um...make sure that it is immaculate!!! as clean as possible. I did a bunch of parts on my dash not the bezel, but I have a bunch of red parts.

heres a link to show you mine.

the bezel is the black piece over the gauges, vents, and radio right? that just pops off, if so, i just painted mine, red.....worst mistake ive ever made w/o knowing the right paint, i tried plastic fusion and and a regular "all surface" paint w/o primer and it was horrible, even a light coat ran right off the plastic and left holes everywhere, it looked like a sponge, i resanded and painted 3 times before i finally bought primer, then i repainted it , and selaed with gloss clear coat and it worked great, no open holes or anything, but it did leave some paint runs where i couldnt sand it good enough,,, my advise is DEFINETELY use primer, it'll save alot of time and work..

heres a pic of the finished product, im happy but it couldve been better

Default Dash Paint

Adhesive promoter and you can buy it at walmart or lordco and it works great and when you clean your dash later the paint will not come off...I rebuilt my chev sprint and did my whole car inside and it has now been 2 years and it still looks great

if youre up to it, the best thing to do it sand off most, if not all of the texture b/c solvent from the paint gets trapped in the low spots and wont allow paint to get down in there and then pop.......also if youre gonna clear it, be sure your paint is absolulety dry or it will break down your base color and make it run........for my bezel, i sanded it and used adhesion promoter then plain ol krylon and its been about 6 months and its holdin up good, for my overhead light stuff, i just sanded some of the texture off and then just used paint, thers pics at the beginning and end.......

+1 on the sanding it is a must! thats why i had my problem with the holes, the paint wouldnt fill in the parts of the texture that we lower, so it looked like crap, i would have sanded more but i didnt notice how textured it was.

Sanding is not a must but scuffing the parts throughly with a scotch brite pad is. Making sure the parts are completely spotless clean and dry is just as important.

I painted my SS mirrors, door handles, door pulls, pwr control trim, dash trim ring, gauge bezel, all the hvac vent vanes(24pieces ugh), airbag control cover, overhead consol and power control center cover under the hood plus a mounting plate I made for my fmu.

I only sanded smooth the door handles/pulls, gauge bezel and over head console. The rest I wanted the texture on so I only scuffed them real good with the scotch brite pads.

Adhesion promoter under all pieces, 8 coats of Tremclad rust paint(thinned 60/40-used touchup gun) & 4 coats of cheapy spray can clear are on all the dash pieces.(dfmu mount just tremclad/clear). I wet sanded between every 2coats on those parts. Cost was minimal but had very good results
The rest I used proper code paint that was 2part as well as 2part clear. Only 2 coats of paint & clear on those pieces. Had reactions with the overhead console and the airbag control cover cause of the adhesion promoter & the color coded paint. Cost alot more, was a fair bit of a PITA(redid those 2pieces 2x) but the results were excellant.

I will be repainting my pedals though, used red Duplicolor on them (duhh) and should of gone blue instead. Everything in the pics was painted in 05 except the seat pedestalls which I did back in 02 (modified 98 peds to mount race buckets)

Default Dash

You need to scuff it up first, as what I did was use a med fine steel wool cause you don't wanna use a sand paper thats to harsh or you will scratch it and when you paint it will show....steelwool...wash with water...one very light coat and then 3 hours later more coats. You can also clear coat if you want but I never did, I just put 2k sealer on it a as i said it has lasted....
