Default throttle valve cable?

what does this cable do and is it a dealer only part?

i broke mine when i was taking the motor out, and now sense its back in and i dont have this cable hooked up, she doesnt shift right, it will go from 1'st right into sec, and the back to first then to third, and then on.

i am figuring this is due to that cable not being hooked up... but i just ant ot know what it does and how it does it. that way i better understand

Yes, you need this. The cable is what tells the tranny what position the throttle is in so it can shift where it needs to (delayed upshift on hard acceleration, kickdown for passing, etc.).

If you need a throttle valve cable, drop me a PM. I bought one brand new and have never used it.
