Dodge Ram Camshaft help

Default Dodge Ram Camshaft help

I have a Dodge ram 1500 n want to upgrade the camshaft but i don't know if the mopar camshaft 272/276 dur will work with the computer n need to know what all i will need to make this camshaft work.....please someone help

not sure about your question, but you can get roller rockers and it would be less of a hassle and be like a small cam.....just my .02

The HS 1.7's increase lift only, they don't increase duration which is the measurement that makes a cam "bigger." Anytime you upgrade a cam, you will need to make changes to your tune (computer) so you can take advantage of the power gain.

When you are comparing duration numbers, they all need to be at .050" tappet lift. If the cam grinder can't supply that number, then I wouldn't trust the advertised duration.

Default camshaft

So what kind of cam would u suggest...cuz i have to rebuild my motor and i need to get some more horsepower... I want to get a cam with a good dur and a solid lift too... need some help

It all depends on your application. Are you after a dependable daily driver/work truck? Do you want to tow primarily? Do you want a mild street rod, or do you want to appear on Pinks? Please note that these choices are in sync with an ever-increasing bank account.

take a look at the comp cam site some need computer upgrades some dont. like Rex said it all depends on how you want your engine to perform
