ha to be honest i had no idea at first either.. im sitting there letting the truck warm up, look down at the gauges and i see just inside the take in big ugly red letters ... GEN... im like ok wtf .. go to the manual go to the section about instruments.. find that it means generator and it says quote, this light should come on when key is on, then should go off once truck is running, if it does not, check your generator belt and then check your entire charging system... and well here i am. lol

Look at your battery gauge. Is the system charging? Are you above 14v when the truck is running?

yep the whole time the truck is running its above 14. when the trucks key is on its just barely below 14. it never drops below the "green" zone

Make sure you havent had a leak of some kind under the hood. I know when my water pump bit the dust, it threw coolant all over under the hood. When it did it soaked the alternator causing the belt to slip on the pulley. Once it dried out, it was fine. It did the same thing a couple days later when i went to the car wash to get rid of all the coolant in the engine bay.
