Why buy aftermarket stuff to fix your plenum gasket? LOL

Well, according to my Hughes invoice of 7-30-08, I paid a whopping total of $86 for my plenum kit. If that saves me the time and money to dig out my intake again, it's money well spent. Believe me, if the factory thought aircraft quality RTV was the cheapest (and got them past the warranty), they would have used it long ago.

Try out some cool high speed RTV, that might or might not work, or are you going to do the tried and true method of replacing the bottom plate with an aftermarket aluminum one. B/c if your method of using RTV doesn't work, that customer is probably not going to come back to your shop ever again. You just wasted their money on something that might or might not work. And let's not pull out the "I'm a mechanic" card. I can almost bet that I spend more time wrenching than just about anybody on here: 7 days a week, at least 12hrs a day. Im not working on VW's either, try Royles Royce 250C30R3 engines. Who cares? There probably some construction worker on here that has owned his truck since it was new, and might just show you a thing or two about these dodges. If you want to do something really cool, why dont you draw up the plate and fab it up your self. Post the build specs up on this forum and help everybody out.
There is nothing complicated about grabbing a piece of cardboard ,tracing the manifold , cutting aluminum sheet metal with a jig saw and drilling holes. OH and off course I almost forgot... using some AVIATION GRADE PERMATEX around the seal ! ha
NO but Seriously because I'm a fan of the trade. do you really have a nanny and a check list when you get to work ?

I did not waste a whole bunch of time on this, and I didn't even read all of your posts. What I did read though amuses me. Look at post numbers: 1, 18, 35, 45, 47, and 55. While I do not claim to have perfect grammar myself, I think it is very funny that you call someone out for their writing skills, when yours are just as horrible.
Yeah English being my second language might have something to do with it but your input is taking in a positive way nonetheless .
I did not have time to review the posts mentioned but critics are always welcomed.

I bought the older Edelbrock airgap from Marty at KRC when my intake manifold cracked in multiple places and wouldn't seal.

The new one probably works exactly the same and is about $150 cheaper, but I needed one NOW and don't regret having to get it. Good mod once the computer figures everything out.

This is for the old style BFG's as I have no experience with the new ones.

I might not should bring this part of the thread back but I disagree as do most guys that seem to run BFG's. If you keep them rotated every 3k miles they wear pretty well for a mud tire. They are no Super Swamper offroad but they are not bad either. Especially considering how well their road manners are. They aren't the quietest tires on the road either but they are a lot quieter than some. Who expects a mud tire to sound quiet? While they also don't ride like a car tire they don't shake the truck horrible or wander all of the road or bounce or do anything else. They ride pretty well and handle pretty well. All while lasting pretty darn well on the road as long as you rotate them. Some guys get 40k+ out of them. I haven't yet with the last two sets but one wore quickly due to bad shocks and the others I never rotated so the front two got cupped badly due to bad shocks. The rears still had really good tread when I took them off. Ended up using one of them again as I cut a sidewall on one of these tires when it was fairly new.

I have gotten stuck but usually it's when I stop in the mud and try to start again. It's not often that I get stuck and I've seen quite a few guys with Super Swampers get stuck too so it's not like any tire wont get you stuck.

Are they my favorite tire? No but for a truck that wants the mud tire look and occasionally goes offroad but is mostly 90% street driven like mine they are a great tire. The Toyo's seem to be great for this also but you pay for it. The Toyo's may or may not be my next set not sure.

Almost all of the reviews I've ever heard on these tires have been positive. They aren't something to use if you have a truck that only see's 5% street and 95% mud but for what most guys use their trucks for it does great.

Now that being said do I think his idea is one I'd try? Probably not but no need to bash on him because his truck isn't like you would want it setup and his stereo isn't as nice as yours. You seem kind of like Viper where you seem to think what you have is the best and everything else is crap. No offense it's just something that I've noticed. May not be true but it seems that way.

Now is his stereo the best? No. However, it probably is better than the factory setup which is crap. How many people actually put super nice stereo's in unless their hobby is car audio? The majority I know other than teenagers leave them stock.

I honestly am sorry that I let this get out of hand, I have no problem with someone coming in with an idea, but to take that and start telling everyone how they dont know what something is without know who they are is kind of out of hand. And then when someone makes a joke about him being a noob (he was at 16 or 17 posts at that point) and then he turns around and has to rag on them about something totally pointless and I personally like the help that the guy he just ragged on has given me, it drove me off the wall... I apologize for keeping at it, I have been having a bad few days and kind of took it out on this... should I have, no and like I said, I apologize. I kind of just took stuff that I could find and threw it in this guys face after I saw him insulting other members about their sentence structure, I mean, whats the point of that?!?!?! really. But, to end this, Im sorry, and I hope that we can let this all get past us and forgive eachother and learn from eachother.
