Default sounds like it wants to shut off

ok, this only happens every once in a while and when the engine is cold when i start it up in the morning. I've got a ram 1500 with the 360 and if i leave it in park it will start chuggin like it wants to shut off then i rev it and it or put it in drive and it's fine. kinda sounds like an old carburated car wantin to stay on after sittin out for a while. I dont think it's anything electrical because i've replaced the starter and the alternator in the past year. i've done a tune up as well. the only other thing i can think of would be the battery or the fuel filter sock thing in the gas tank. the battery isn't big enough for the truck which is why i put that in there. any suggestions?

+1, if you look in the DIY section you'll find a thread on how to clean the IAC atleast. And just wondering, maybe it's just the pic quality, but is that truck purple by any chance?

haha yeah it's purple. the only color the dealership had with the 360 in it at the time. the throttle body is new though. put it on last month from fastman and the engine has been rebuilt recentlym it was doing this even before i had the rebuild done.

OMG! LOL That is awesome. Wait until some other members see this thread, especially this guy . PurplDodge. You might want to think about painting your grill hemi orange

And back on topic, even though you replaced the TB, you probably used the original IAC. So it could be going bad. Not all that expensive, to try anyway.

thanks zman i'll look into it. i wasn't crazy on the color when i first bought it 10 years ago but it's grown on me. i'm the only one in my area with the color and it only looks purple when the sunlight hits it otherwise it looks like a deep shade of blue. and besides, most of the paint is scratched and dinged up.....horses tear up a truck haha.

hey, make sure your throttle positioning sensor is plugged in well, and working, It will make the engine chug like you say if its going out.. replacing this fixed all sorts of quirky problems with my truck Including the cruise control
