Do I have to put coolant when the engine is completely cold? Or I can do that after driving?

Also one more question :-)
Today I drive to work and suddenly when I stopped on red light my truck start to "breathe" a lot of air (it was very noisy) the rpm's goes down and then he died. I have no problems to start it again.

What can cause that?

take your radiator cap off and start the truck, then add coolant until full and watch it and add coolant as neccessary

Raise the front of the truck as high as you can with a jack or a curb or an incline.

+1 Park facing uphill and run the engine with the radiator open. The level should keep dropping in the radiator as air replaces coolant. Top it off as it drops.

I had that same sucking sound for a little while too. Turned out to be a small crack in my rad. Then i noticed that i was constantly loosing coolant, but not at an alarming rate. Put in some stop leak and problem was fixed. Have since replaced the Rad. though. Maybe you have a small leak somewhere?

Mine started making this noise on a cold fireup as well.. It started doing it when I put an external cooler on my tranny and bypassed the cooler on the bottom of the ratiator, but I don't see how that would affect the coolant. It doesn't use/loose any coolant at all so there can't be a leak. Weird.

Try doing what was suggested above. You may just simply still have some air in the system.

wow, has it been runnin hot?.....as for the thermostat, you can remove the a/c and alternator and all that to get to it easier if youre unsure about yourself OR all you need to remove is the a/c line bracket and the radiator hose, but its a little tougher to get it clean and make sure you do it right.......be sure that you drain enough coolant that you can make sure it is below the therm so its completely dry when you put it back together......any ?s, just ask
