yeah.. not doing 4.10... waste of money for me big time.. I do about 90% highway driving. but the time I do spend of road is usually pretty serious. I'm happy with the 3.55's I enjoy my mpg's right now.. the tranny is fine.. it just down shifts once in awhile when I don't think it should

Take $1500 and stuff it in the bank, the world's gonna crap on you at some point.

Take the other half and really decide what you wanna do with your truck. I absolutely love mine and plan to drive it at least 5 more years. That's why I'm doing what I'm doing to it. Heads on in 2 weeks. Possibly a cam over the summer and a P&P on the heads and intake and I'm done performance wise (well a 52MM TB and a ram air intake if it's advised). Then it's on to routine maintenance and fixing it cosmetically so I'll actually be proud to drive it. I want a street sleeper, but that's just me. You gotta do what you want, and if you have a goal in mind and stick to it, you'll be happier in the long run.

Yes.. I gotcha I should have about a grand left over depending on what the shop says. I'd do this stuff myself, but don't have the tools or a clean shop to do it in.

I guess if I were to spend the money on performance parts rather than a tranny this is
what I would do......
Hughes Iron Ram Heads, spring kit, hardend rods, 1.6 roller rockers, compcams custom
ground cam (about $2,000 all together), compcams double roller timing chain, water pump,
sct tuner, and some gears (4.10 or 3.92).
This way you would eliminate any future problems with cracked heads, the timing chain
wouldn't be worn out, the water pump would be in good shape, the tuner would take
care of torque management and deathflash, and oh yeah.... it would haul ***.
just my 2 cents.
