Yup, some people that don't know much about transmissions might think it is a 5 speed because of the way it "shifts". You have 1,2,D,O/D, TC Lockup. Depending on the work done to the trans the TC lockup will feel almost like another shift.
ahh ok well thats kool i know alot about them but im not to up-to-date on the 2nd gens this is my 1st second gen ram i have owned ...... i have owned 2 3rd gens so i just thought i would ask..... lol

Yeah, it threw me for a loop when my truck started in first and shifted four times (meaning 5 gears) after having the trans rebuild, you can watch the rpm gauge to see it shift, hear it shift, and feel it shift when TC locks up.
EDIT-- To the OP, Why do you wish for a 5 speed? It was mentioned in another thread that the final drive between the 3rd gen auto trans and our 46re final drive is a very small amount of difference. Definately less than 100rpm difference although I do not have a specific number

yea i went from a 3rd to a 2nd lol and i dnt regret it one bit my 3rd was a black single cab with the 5 speed on the floor and it was a 3.7l lol i dnt miss that one bit i love my 5.2 4x4
yes sir they do i love my 2nd gen much more and i still have 2 more 3rd gens my dad and mom both have one his is an 08 quad lonestar and her's is a mega-cab both with hemi's
