Question water pump questions

Well my wonderful dodge has left me on the side of the road again. Dont get me wrong i love this truck, but as of late im getting REAL PISSED OFF.

So the water pump went out yesterday, and i get a new pump to install. Well today i get the pump off real easy, but when i looked inside the old pump i find this white looking slime, and find the same on the engine block where the pump was attached to.

Any one see this before, and if so what am i looking at?

any input would be greatly appreciated.

Might be getting oil in your water...??? Pull your dipstick and check your oil... see if your getting water in your oil as well. If so.. you may have a blown head or intake gasket? Just a thought

Off topic, but are you going to replace the timing chain?

no im not going to replace the timing chain. the truck ran great till i had parked it and noticed water pouring out fro under it. So i checked all the lines and all were good, but when i looked at the water pump i saw it leaking. and there is no water in the oil, though the oil pressure has been up for the past few months.

Working on VW's I see customers using the wrong coolant ( green stuff ) into their systems that use G12 coolant creating a mix that over time slowly could become gel like.

I wonder if it is the result of cooling system additives from past owners
Or somebody accidentally adding windshield washer fluid to the coolant reservoir.

now thats possible. if it was a blown gasket im sure i would have a loss in oil pressure, and plus it has lost no power it still ran great.

the last thing i did with the truck before this problem occurred was i pulled a long trailer loaded with three four wheelers to my friends place so we could go ride, and the truck ran great.

Why not? Now is the perfect time to do it.

This is just a guess, but maybe some water pump bearing lubricant got sucked past the impeller shaft seal when the truck cooled down the last time. As the coolant contracts, a vacuum is created in the cooling system.
