Default band adjustment

I have a 1997 ram 2500 4x4, with i believe a 47re auto trans. When i drop the trans pan to change out the filter and drain some of the fluid, how hard would it be to adjust the bands on the trans, and just how involved is it to do that?
thanks

The 47re,

Don't adjust them unless your having problems. I believe the 47re has a three fingered band that tends to dig into the drum and needs machining when the tranny goes. tightening it needlessly will only cause it to dig further.

If it ain't broken, do go trying to fix it.

To adjust the band on the top of the 47re is a b!tch. Your better off dropping the trans than to mess with that damn adjusting screw, unless you have dainty little girl hands that can get in there
