i want to take my flowmaster 44 muffler off.. its beginning to show some corrosion and also its just NOT LOUD ENOUGH! i wana put a cherry bomb extreme on.. i like the sound (youtube) and they seem like they put out a very radical exhaust tone which is what i want.. i dont want to do straights because i know in pa i need a muffler and a cat.. However i am not sure if i need to pass an emissions test on a 96.. can anyone give me a heads up? and if i do need an emissions will i pass with a cherry bomb extreme and a stock cat.. my trucks inspected to 2010.. however theres no emissions sticker on it.. so im just confused. im fully capable of welding the muffler up though.

Yes , 96 needs inspection , Yes you will pass with stock cat and cherry bomb extrme. I did. I didint like it so i pulled it off my truck , and it now sits in my room as a grim reminder.

Did yr truck come from nj how is in inspected until 2010?

 

If his inspection was up in jan or feb it would be done till 2010 now. It depends on your location. Some places a 96 will need to pass emissions other places may not. I'm not sure on the exact year cut off but I know my 94 Mustang needs to pass here in Chester County but in Lancaster County it wouldn't need too. You will have to ask your local inspection station to know for sure

 

why didn't you like the cherry bomb? I was thinking of putting the old school style red one on.

 

Almost all counties have emission testing done , there a few that do not , stupid right ? , on a 96 , cat , no codes , gas cap test is whats done on an emissions test. As far back as in year they go back i think its 1974 ... does not matter what muffler you change it will not affect emissions , simple rule: You can add but dont take off...

 

Its a single in Dual out, and it made the truck feel sluggish. I didnt like it that much. As for selling it , it weighs a bit to the point where shipping it would cost alot more for me , then you going down to autozone and picking it up. I bought it new for 19 bucks.

 

wow so autozone is cheaper then going through jegs??? jegs has it for 60.99... we are talking about the red cherry bomb extreme right
