You could buy an O2 simm from fastman for less than an updated cat costs. You'd still be
'green friendly' and have no codes.

I actually had the 99439 added as I wanted an O2 bung so I could hook up the wideband.

But that 99409 is what you'd want if you're running 3" exhaust. The cat is considerably longer than the old one, so if your exhaust is 3" pipe in your 2001 like mine was, you shouldn't need any adapters, they'll just cut the old cat off with a sawzall just before the front cat weld and however much exhaust pipe post-cat they need to make it fit. The rubber hangers in the exhaust let them push the exhaust pipe out of the way a bit to make it slip-fit into the cat receivers before they weld it up.

Wait, how is not burning off the appropriate amount of emissions "green friendly?" That's why the CEL pops in the first place. P0420 is cat not operating to minimum efficiency standards.

I'm not 100% sure Dan sells O2 sims anymore. You might need to call him on that. Last time I saw a post somebody claimed Dan didn't have them anymore and wasn't sure he'd be getting more in.

Wow, not that is some smart thinking! (o2 bung). Anyway, i still have stock y pipe and the cat is welded there 3", then the other end of the cat i have a 3" to 2.5" adapter welded to stock pipe. Im actually going to run up to the store now since they are still open. The new 3" pipe from cat to muffler isn't a bad idea either. hmm... I'll keep that in the back of my mind for now. Let me run to the store before they close and see what they can do for me, and check the availability of the 99xxx series cats. Back in a few...

You'll be greener than no cat at all. I'm offering a cheaper and easier alternative to removing
the cat, again, and spending another $100 or more.

They are still for sale on his website.

Just got back from the parts store. I may not be out of luck yet. I'll buy a new cat, they can send my cat back to magnaflow as long as I could find a bank statement saying i purchased the cat from them and it matches up with the computer. Then twidel my thumbs for a month hoping they find it defective. (I would be mega pissed if they found it not defective). Then get the refund for it if it is. Guess im on the hunt now through the bank statements.

Edit - Update

Printed my bank statement out and drove back to the parts store. The guy there was extremely helpful and checked the bank statement, looked it up and printed out two different reciepts. The first one was when I bought the 94006 (I think it is a 2.5" version and everyone told me I needed the 3") So the price on that reciept matches the bank statement. The other reciept was when I swaped the 94006 for the 94109. That way everything matches up number wise. I still am up in the air on what to do, but im leaning towards aim's route of the new 99xxx series cat. The store told me they could have a new one in 3-5 days without looking it up (rough estimate) and it would be $130 for the cat that aim had gotten. Around $117 with the discount. I guess thats what im going to end up doing. All I have to say is this one better not do the same thing lol.

I think you'll be set with the bigger cat.

That 99409 is roughly the size of the original cat, although the honeycomb in the Magnaflow isn't as tight or as large as the OEM setup which is why it'll flow more.

Sounds good aim. I was dumb-founded to see my check engine light come on when I haven't heard anyone else have a problem. I guess with this thread the "cat" is out of the bag (slaps knee ... ahhahaha ) Anyway I'll have to scrape up some money then and get this new cat.

If this cat doesn't work... looks like we are left with this one. If that doesn't take care of it... we got a problem.

Thanks for the help!

I had the same issue, and it has since been fixed.

First time I noticed it was popping a CEL while climbing a hill on the highway trying to pass.
