Question Camshaft Help

I'm thinking about putting a new camshaft in my 2001 5.9L V8 3/4 ton 4x4. Can someone give me some suggestions? Should I do it or not? What are my camshaft options? I'm looking to keep my rpms on the lower side. My peak horsepower and torque is between 3,000 and 3,500 rpm. It is still my daily driver and tow vehicle. I'm open to all suggestions.

Think I'd consider a gearing change before recamming. 35's can't make for happy hauling.

Yeah if you dont have min 410 gears do them first. Lots like the 456 w/35s.
Only a couple cams intended for 4x4's and towing. KRC206 one of the better ones. Should really change lifters as well as pushrods, springs and retainers.
Alternate idea, go with HS 1.7rr & 50mm fastman tb

I have 4:10 gears, pacesetter shorty headers, 50mm fastman throttlebody, I had head work done while I was putting in new cylinder heads but I dont remember all that was done off the top of my head; i'll look it up. Someone has also recommended a compcam.

I have the 20-604-9 comp one to put in. I have no first hand experience with it yet though so I won't talk it up yet

I run 4.56 gears on my 5.9 with 35's, headers and polished heads and it does the job just dandy. I only lost a little power from the tires but it still spins 'em easy enough and pulls well.

Thats what I would do. I'd contact CompCam, tell them what I was looking for, and go with
a custom grind.
