we have not yet switched to the new mobil 1. it will be interesting to know how we will handle that situation. but as soon as i find out how we will handle that, i will let everyone know. i personally think it is ridiculous also, but i just work there and i have to go by what my manager tells me. i can only give the customer my opinion if i believe something is wrong

Not to mention what the owner's manual states the required change intervals should be - I can see warranty claims being denied due to extended change intervals, M1 or not. If a company can avoid spending several thousand to fix an engine they will, even if the oil was still doing its job.

Fram filters are known to be junk....stick with wix, baldwin, hastings, donaldsons, fleetgaurd.
and oil doesnt "go bad"....it gets contaminated.....with correct filtration it can last 100,000 miles or more. If u want to do an extended oil change interval use a 15w40 oil. been using it in my diesels for 15 years, and in 2 gas trucks for 10 years(chevy 350's). my 2 diesel trucks have a factory stated change interval of 15,000 miles....diesel oil can be used in a gasser and is the next best thing to synthetics.
