Yea I know I got all four shipped to my house for 488.04. And I might me able to help you out with rim. Just got 16X8 dick cepek's and I'm not sure if I want to get rid of the stock ones yet you will need new tire. My dad made a comment about my new rims he called them fufu wells lol.

I don't usually have to drive a ton in the snow only a couple times a year but my BFG Mt's do decent. I do have to put it in 4wd some going up hills or if I stop on a hill as they do slide and stuff but they seem to dig down pretty well through the snow at the same time if you get them spinning.

That said a skinnier tire would probably do better as well, it's pretty well known that wider tires float and skinnier tires cut through it.

Ain't gonna lie I've never had problems with wider tires. I have 33x12.5's on my truck and not one problem.

My suspicion would be because you have a mud terrain. I think a mud-terrain can get away with a little more width because of those lugs. As I said earlier, my 35" mud tires did decent in the snow. I have a feeling that a wide all-terrain tire just doesn't do well. It's wide and doesn't have much to grip.

The real question is, at what point in width does a tire go from cutting into snow to floating on snow. I have a hard time believing that it is somewhere between a 285 and a 305. The tires on my Swift are about 6" wide - they cut pretty good through snow. I bet if I put something wider, id feel like it was floating too, even though I'd still be narrower then your 285's.

I'd say it depends on the weight off a vehicle, and the wheelbase as well. My brother would probably have better traction with 305s on his one ton than my half ton with 305s. What is a swift??

Why not throw on some sweet bead lock rims and lower the PSI in the tire? and for me with my 33/12.5 pro comp M/Ts I rip through the snow around here. But of course in PA we dont get anything above 12. Still though, traction when i want it and in 4x2 playin in the snow in parkin lots

I've been using a 95 VW Cabrio for commuting purposes, because it gets close to 35mpg. When the weekend comes, I can't wait to fire up the Ram, and run over some VW's, LOL
