Transfer case jumping out of gear?
99 1500, 318, 4 X 4, manual tranny.
Driving home the other night on the highway doing about 65 in 2wd the truck seemed to drop out of gear. I felt a very small jolt and then a grinding of gears. Took the truck out of gear grinding goes away. Speed dropped. Shifted back into gear and every thing seemed fine. Happened again about 5 minutes later. Did the same thing and went for another 5 minutes. Got to my exit down shifted and at about 35 it happened again. Being the side roads are still snow covered and snw showers I shifted from a stop into 4wd hi and headed on home which was about 3 miles away. No problem in 4WD hi going home.
Going to check the CAD lines etc and the snap ring on the rear drive shaft. Anyone run into this?
Clutch seems to be OK and no problems shifting the transmission through all the gears so I'm thinking something in the T-case maybe.
I did a search and could not find anything.
Thanks
Ed
