Default Brake Line Problem

Hi all,
i busted a brake line today. it is a 1996 ram sport club cab 4x4 5.9.
i lost pressure on my way to work. i looked underneath the truck and i found fluid dripping from the frame-rail next to the gas tank. does this line go straight trough or is there a junction of some kind? i dont want to drop my tank to get to it. can i temporaritly just run the new line through the rail next to the old? how can i fix this, thanks alot, smgbsdc

You can run a permanent line up through there ... it's a common place to pop a line.

That happened to me about a month ago, I used (2) 72in and (1) 12 inch 3/16 inch lines to get it done.

Keep in mind it's only temporary, as you won't be able to mount it correctly above the tank, so there is a chance it will be rubbing on something.

Same size probably. You can get a direct fit replacement from dodge or make up your own.

Not a direct pre bent replacement. But any auto parts store has the size you need in a straight tube.

I'm almost certain that you didn't blow the hard line which runs from the master cylinder to the rear of the truck. There's a rubber hose line which connects to the hard line just rear of the tank. There's a bracket mounted to the inside of the C-Channel which hold the two connections together. The rubber hose line then connects to a junction block on the rear end which sends fluid to the left and right wheel cylinders. It's probably what let go not the hard line. You're supposed to inspect these because they get old and brittle, not to mention that brake fluid is higly corrosive and that it's a difficult place to access. Drop the spare tire stuff your head under and replace all your lines with a braided set.
