Default O2 Fitment

I was gonna change my upstream o2 sensor today, so I went to Advance and bought one. Get home...wrong sensor. Go back...computer shows the one they gave me. Just to check, the guy looked up a sensor for an '02...it was like mine. And of course, that one wasn't in stock. Anyone else had this issue of an '01 having an '02 sensor...no pun intended.

Yep! ran into this issue about 6 months ago when i put the highflow in. Solution.... Buy the NTK sensors. My guess is you got the bosch sensor like I did first and while im under there trying to hook it up I scratch my head... There is no way these two plugs are going to hook up.

I used this website to get the part numbers
http://www.ngkoxygensensors.com/

Then ordered the sensors from summit. Plug in the numbers below @ summit and add to cart.

Front sensor: 23139
Rear sensor: 23132

Wish you luck!

the problem lies with Dodge, Early 01's use the round connector, but about halfway thru the year they changed batches on the sensor plugs that they used to the same ones for the 3rd gens.

You can order a bosch O2 for a 2002 model and it'll have the right plug. NTK sensors last a little longer though. Hughesengines.com had them for $39 last time I bought them. Just make sure you specify the 2002 square plug or they'll send you the round as well.

Yup I got a NTK sensor I think from Summit and a o2 simm from The Fastman for the rear. The dealer also was aware of what mine needed but Advance didn't seem to be. I forgot what was different as I never tried them just figured out from the dealer that the parts store ones didn't seem right. I think it was Advance I checked with. I think they were telling me I needed 2 sensors or something like that but not sure. It was a while ago.

Thanks for the replies guys...and the link, pcfixerpro. I ordered the NTK 23139. Summit was out of stock and gonna be delayed until around the end of this month, so I order from the NGK website, which actually ended up being from sparkplugs.com. Anyway...$45 shipped. That same thing in the Bosch lists for like $72 at Advance...what a sham!

Aim,

What makes even less sense is that my truck was mfr. in 3/01, and still used the '02 style plug...weird.

I know I have an early manufacture date too .... actually it might be in march as well to tell you the truth. I'll check it when I head out this afternoon.

Your '01 was built in March '01? That seems really, really late in the building cycle for the '01 model, I'd have thought they'd have switched to 3rd gen production fully by then since the new models usually debut in Aug/Sept.

I bought mine in Dec '00 and is sat on the lot for 2 months before they could move it. A farmer ordered it and decided last minute he wanted the 5.9 with 4WD.
