Default Do I need to replace my 0@ sensors?

My truck has 102k on the clock. CA model 1500 w/ 318. Everyone says something different when it comes to replacing 02 sensors. So I'll ask you guys. Do I need to replace mine? I'm not having any driving problems or anything else like that. Mileage sucks like always, but that's normal for this truck. (12mpg)

Wouldn't hurt. I have just under 70k on mine I believe, and I am planning on replacing my first (pre-converter) O2 sensor as soon as I fix my plenum with the Hughes kit I have lying along the wall in the garage (along with a modified Kegger I also need to install).

I wouldn't touch the downstream (post-converter) sensor until it quits, as all that does is tell you when your converter is running bad, and has nothing to do with the fuel/air mix.

On a Cali setup, how many sensors do you have? You have two pre-converters and a converter (rather than just a single converter), right?

Mine's a Cali setup, and it had two pre-cats with foree and after sensors, and then where the y-pipe came together it had a big cat with no other sensors..

I'd at least pull them, squirt them with some electric parts cleaner and wipe gently with a rag and reinstall. See if it doesn't help the mileage.

I use the top one. bottom one doesn't have enough Oomph behind it to get off the carbon.

I am an advocate of preventative maintenance. Not certain if cleaning will help, but if it does then by all means do so. If not, then replace them. That's cheaper and easier than replacing a clogged cat, which happens when the O2 sensors can't do their job.

Also, apply a bit of anti-seize to the threads.
