Default 98 dodge ram is not staying running

Alright to begin with the truck has 240 000 miles on it and have really never had any problems with it other then water pump and fuel pump which have been replaced in the last year. But the other day I was driving my truck around picking stuff up for work all day and i come home to grab something and shut the truck off. Well when i went to start it, ran for about 3 seconds and then dies. It was just all of a sudden that this happened. Kinda thinking its a fuel filter but i was thinkin that was in the tank and i would of changed that when i did my pump last year. let me know if you guys have any idea what this could be. I have also check all the fuses and relays. Truck runs fine though for the 3 seconds, no back fire or roughness at all but then it just dies.

Have you checked for good fuel pressure? Is the cat good? At this point it could be a lot of things, honestly. Sounds like it's starving for fuel.

+1, check the fuel pressure. And btw, what brand fuel pump did you buy? If you remember.

Was tempted to try and switch that out since its under warrenty but its just a pain to pull and im not 100 percent sure that its that. was thinkin maybe a fuel filter. does anybody no where they are located on these trucks ?

its in the fuel pump module, in your gas tank.

thats what i was thinking because i tried to replace it and i think i remember the guy saying that at the auto parts store. I know the fuel pump is working because i can hear it and there is pressure in the fuel rails when you hit the air valve. So i dont know what it is, ima gonna try cleaning out the throttle body and stuff tonight and reading up some more on it. Seems like it might be some sort of a sensor somewhere that needs to be replaced. because the motor runs for literly 3 seconds and then its like something over rides its and shuts the motor off. It does have the original injectors on it does anyone think that may be the cause.

i dont believe it could be the injectors...if it were and they were bad, you wouldn't be getting fuel to your cylinders and you'd probably be misfiring or something.

yea thats what i was thinking to plus they wouldnt all shut off it would be just running rough. Im gonna disassemble the intake manifold and tb and clean them and but new gaskets and tighten everything back down good and see what happens. If anyone else has any input it would be greatly appreciated. Have already hooked a computer up to it and replaced , thermostat sensor, cap and rotor, and spark plugs. I know these were not required but they did have 240 k on them it was time.

Does the truck stay running longer if you play with the gas? If it does it would lead me to belive that its the idle air control valve. Also have you replaced the crank sensor on the truck ever there very common to go on these trucks
