Default HELP! - found broken piece in pan

I dropped my transmission pan and found this piece. One piece just 2 different angles. It's about 3/16th wide and 1 1/4 inch long. The truck drove ok. No noticable problems shifting.

After getting sick with the thought of having to pull my trans, I regained composure and made this post. Any ideas would be appreciated.

Cost a lot more? How? You mean a shop would go through the procedure to pull and disassemble a tranny, then reassemble it with USED parts? I believe they would do a rebuild either way.

a tow to the shop would cost more than driving there.... although with our gas milage it might me cheaper to call a tow truck lol

that is what it is I must have lost a dozen or so of them trying to remove them. either would break or fly over to the other side of the shop. then i would have to tell my dad it was not a piston ring for the motor LOL!!! that brings back a memory thanks for this tread i miss my dad... I think i will call him...

I still haven't identified the broken piece. I read the service manual and it appears there are special tools required to disassemble the transmission. Has anyone been able to disassemble without the special tools?

I'd bet good money that they will say, "Buddy, you need a rebuild right now. I'm surprised you made it in."
