HELP! - found broken piece in pan

Default HELP! - found broken piece in pan

I dropped my transmission pan and found this piece. One piece just 2 different angles. It's about 3/16th wide and 1 1/4 inch long. The truck drove ok. No noticable problems shifting.

After getting sick with the thought of having to pull my trans, I regained composure and made this post. Any ideas would be appreciated.

so i looked up your debris and called my tranny guy yours is gonna fail very soon i would get fixed before it costs you a lot more. over drive and valve body jobs run about 1300$

Cost a lot more? How? You mean a shop would go through the procedure to pull and disassemble a tranny, then reassemble it with USED parts? I believe they would do a rebuild either way.

a tow to the shop would cost more than driving there.... although with our gas milage it might me cheaper to call a tow truck lol

that is what it is I must have lost a dozen or so of them trying to remove them. either would break or fly over to the other side of the shop. then i would have to tell my dad it was not a piston ring for the motor LOL!!! that brings back a memory thanks for this tread i miss my dad... I think i will call him...

I still haven't identified the broken piece. I read the service manual and it appears there are special tools required to disassemble the transmission. Has anyone been able to disassemble without the special tools?

i would stop by a tranny shop and see what they say....tearing into a tranny isnt a bright idea if you dont have a clue what youre doin

I'd bet good money that they will say, "Buddy, you need a rebuild right now. I'm surprised you made it in."
