I know and while I didn't use to think this I do think this now. However, it's not once in a while it's more like once a week if you want to keep them looking decent. If I take a trip it usually needs it after 4 hours or so of driving. They just get dirty being behind the tires then they turn brownish in spots. It's hard to get them polished back up too. The best thing I've found for it is the Mothers Powerball in a drill and it's not too bad with that. The chrome ones you do have to replace way more often but they are a fraction of the work. At least the ones I had were.

I can however put time into mine and have them looking close to new again although it doesn't last long. I say close to new as I have some small knicks in mine from rocks but you can't see unless you are really close polishing them.

my truck is not a daily driver,so i suppose that would help. and i NEVER, i mean NEVER take my truck back to the house without being washed. even if its raining or something. i only live a half mile from the carwash. sometimes its just a rinse off though.

I buy all my exhaust stuff from 21stcenturyexhaust. They have remarkable prices. I bought 4"x18" tips for $55. I remember when the super 44 muffler was new and everyone wanted $100+ for it, they sold it to me for $65.

i would think that high temp paint would stay on since you lose alot of heat between there and the engine

High temp usually doesn't wear well with chips. And the corrosive gases and salts from the road don't help much either. Magnaflow makes a ton of tips that a stainless. A good bit of fine steel wool will make them look good as new. Doesn't take much effort either and if you mix in a
little wax with the steel wool, you'll probably be really happy with the result.

Steel wool doesn't seem to get the discoloration off of mine I have to do some polishing with the powerball to fix that. I can't get it to come off by hand and it even takes a bit with the powerball.

I'd go with stainless over chrome any day of the week.
