So you have a solid axle in that? Or you have like a transaxle with half shafts? You are going to take the entire knuckle off?

Why would you want to do that? It's only one more nut. Besides it will make it slightly harder to slide it in the new housing (with the extra weight) without damaging the seal.

i just took the last bolt out and got it all apart i have the housing and everying installed and all that is left is the alxes in the housing and the drivers axle slides right in good but the passenger has the split shafts and i can't get the half that slides in the pumpkin to slide in it feels like it is hitting something but i put a peace of wire in and there is nothing in the way?
the housing is from a 97 and my truck is a 96 but that should not make a difference being the drivers side is already in without any problems

That's because the right side has not only the CAD collar to deal with, but the outer shaft you are trying to install needs to mate up with the intermediate shaft. Pull the outer shaft back out and look at the end of it. you should see a black (female) bushing in the end of it. You also need to remove the CAD at this point to make sure the collar has not fallen off.

And by the sounds of things, plan on doing it again soon to replace the seal. Which I would be very surprised if you have not damaged it already.

All the posi-lock system does is replace the vacuum operation with manual cable operation. It still has the collar in it.
