Default ? about painting coil springs

Well some other topics on here have got me thinking about painting my coil springs. I would love to go with blue (there currently red) What paint out there will withstand the elements and keep the color for at least a few years? I would hate to prep and paint just to have the paint crack or flake within a few months.

Anyone done this and how did it turn out? How did you prep and what paint did you use?

Thanks

powdercoat. i think anything else wont last long, you can go to your local autobody supply store and ask them the same question and they can set you up with what you need.

I have contemplated this as well. When I install the leveling kit on my truck, I am bringing my coil springs and control arms up to my powder coating guy. I'm still not sure what color I want them to be.

You would prolly need something in a flexiable paint. As far as toughness, I would go for like engine block paint or something like that

Get what you pay for generally. Cheap rattle can paint will look good but for the most part, wont last too long depending on if you do a lot of offroading.
Powder coating cost a lot more(if you dont do it yourself) but will last. I tend to sandblast everything these days to prep for either paint or powdercoating. Powder, if new part, outgas it (400*/1hr), allow it to cool, then wipe the part with Eastwoods "Pre" then powder it and bake (20min/380* depending on pwdr)
Painting parts, blast, then usually I brush on some zincoxide, prime, paint & clear. Depending on the part wet sanding between every 2 coats.
Find the powder is a lot less stages and parts can go back on immediately.
