A run at the track
Went down to Cecil Co. Dragway tonight with some people. Haha, I was pretty much told to go for a run in my truck... so I did. I've been to the track a few times before but never raced down the track, so needless to say I wasn't quite sure what to do... besides the obvious (floor it) lol. Anyway on my first run.. heres what I came up with.
R/T......(.464)
60'.......(2.607)
330......(7.207)
1/8......(11.015)
MPH.....(64.76)
1000....(14.285)
1/4......(17.080)
MPH.....(80.28)
Honestly I don't know how well 17.08 is (compaired to trucks like mine), but to me it doesn't sound bad at all for a basically stock truck just having a run for fun. Add in the weight of the pushbar, crap inside the cab, loaded bed toolbox, spare tire. etc... not bad at all in my book.
Mods to truck that would make a difference....
Open air cleaner
Headers --> Highflow cat --> Turndown's after muffler
Superchips Performance 91 Tune w/ 93 Octane
Well needless to say after I did my first ever run I figured there was still some room for improvement... plus I wanted to shave off 9 hundredths to get me to 16.99 lol. Went up to stage (both times were around the waterbox). First time it hooked nicely. My second try I did the same thing at the light as the first time but ... a ricer must have left a present for my right rear tire because I did the 1/8 mile pegleg burnout. Couldn't hook for anything even after letting off, and getting back in it.
Needless to say my time pretty much sucked for that run and called it a night after that.
Other thoughts:
I only had about 30 miles on that performance tune so it hadn't completely learned it yet I think. Not sure if it may have learned some more values on that 1/4 mile first run to make my 2nd run more powerfull and couldn't hook because of it or what.
Need a limited slip
If someone has an extended cab short bed truck mainly stock, let me know what your time was for comparison.
Thanks!

tell you the truth i don't think 17.sec isn't bad think about it 4x4 5.2 and 3.55 gear i think that pretty good.

Pretty decent times. That said Cecil is the fastest track there is. Guys that have been there from where I race generally run .2 - .3 seconds faster (12 sec cars). Ive heard some mention corrected altitudes of 1400' below sea level. Seems to be prone to hi barometric pressure.
Same truck as yours at the track I race at tend to get hi 17s
